need advice on a new build

Hey folks – I need advice on a new build. I want a system that has room for future upgrades and can handle any game out there today. However, I’d really like to get this system under $1k. I have a column for British Pounds, since I live in the UK and have to buy the components locally. Any tips or suggestions on what I can replace to bring the cost down a couple hundred bucks? Thanks.

Couple of things.

#1 I don't know what retailer in the UK you are planning to use, so I cannot guarantee any pricing.
#2 This is SFF/Notebooks/Barebones systems, you really want general hardware for this topic
#3 Suggestions: (using Newegg pricing
BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z97WE LGA 1150 ($115)
Go with 2x 4GB memory over 1x 8GB, better performance, and you still have 2 dimm slots for later
Unless you know you are going to use the Blu-ray, swap down to a normal DVD-Burner. That's a personal preference, as is the case.
