Hi all,
I will be getting a new mp3 player soon. I would like the storage capacity of the hard drive based models, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea as I work out at the gym regularly. If I use it carefully (ie. not running with it attached to my belt, etc.), will a hd model be ok, if I'm just walking around with it in a belt case? If this is going to be a problem I will stick it a smaller capacity flash memory unit.
Any info or experiences with this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gary

For $50 or less if you dealhunt you can get a cheap flash player for workouts and such. I personally wouldn't work out with a hdd player or drop $100 or more on a flash player that can't even hold a half gb. So imo pick up a trashy 128mb player for workouts, and you should have plenty of $$ left to spend on the hdd player of your choice.

I have:

Creative Zen Xtra 40GB <-- walking to work, playing in car, falling asleep listening to
iRiver iFP-180T 128MB <-- weightlifting/running

Other people say they have no problems with running with iPods, but I really wonder what their RMA rate is. There must be a reason they're so overpriced. Creative specifically recommends AGAINST running with the Zen, but says that it is ok to walk with it.

Yeah, that's good advice. I've got an iRiver 128mb flash player and love it. I payed about $100 for mine back in January (and think it's worth every penny), but there are definately cheaper flash players out there.
