Need advice on a good scanner

I am looking into getting a new scanner that will work with XP. I would like a rather high quality scanner that has a slide or transparenty option for scanning slides. Any suggestions? Thanks

I highly recommend the Epson Perfection* series. The model 1660 looks like a good midrange scanner, and there are other models on either side of the price range, depending on what features you want.

* I am not affiliated with Newegg in any way, except that I am a satisfied customer.

I second the Epson Perfection series. I ended up getting a lower end of the series but have been very satisfied with its performance for the past year.

I got a Canon N650U Scanner and I love it. Works great, haven't had any problems, and I love the Very Slim design! I've also heard great things about the Epson scanners. What persuaded me to get the Canon was price (got mine for $39 afer MIR) and the slim design.

You can't go wrong with a Canon or Epson scanner.

Epson Perfection++

For plain text and basic photo scanning, go for the 1660. If you want to do negatives/transparancies, go for the 2400/2450. If you get the 2450, you can hook it up via firewire. Not that it really needs it, but it's the thought that counts.
