Need advice on a good, cost-efficient sound card...

Looking for advice and opinions on a good quality, cost-efficient sound card for my system. Currently have a ECS K7S5A mobo with onboard sound, but during some of my games, the sound starts getting choppy and then shuts off. Any suggestions?

Lots of good cards like Audigy (oem version is cheap),Philips AE,Santa Cruz,the Audigy will have the lowest CPU usage of all the cards for gaming.
