Need Advice on a Car

Since My Car got Fscked... I need a new one.

The car is CLEAN. Leather interior. Nice V8 engine, that will kill me on gas. Under the hood is immaculate. The guy selling the car has an inspection business and will put a good sticker on for as long as he can. This sound like a good deal? Are Lincoln engines built to sustain high mileage?

From what I remember the Contis are nice cars the transmissions seem to be the only weak point in them.

Hmm.. Yeah, tranny slipped hard from 1st to 2nd. But the guy is going to service the tranny so hopefully that issue will be resolved.

most likely, a transmission service at this point will result in a failure

Yep, if it slips now, adding new fresh slippery fluid will result in....*gasp*... more slippage.

Don't walk RUN away from this car. You will put in about double what you are paying for it when the transmission fails completly in a few thousand miles.

Tranny is going to crap out and as VirginiaDonkey stated, the air suspension on these vehicles have high failure rates.

These are sweet cars. I had an 88 model I got a few years ago, hard loaded, with 65K miles. Truly one of the most enjoyable cars ever... sunroof, looked sweet, good mileage, stereo that cranked... nothing not to like. 😀

The only concern I have about your potential Lincoln is those high miles but if you know it was properly maintained then go for it because it's certainly cheap enough. 😉
