Hi all, new to the forum and rather uneducated in the field of video editing, so I apologize if any of my questions are obvious or dumb.

I'm looking to buy a video capture card so I can update a recent vacation video. My video camera is the Sony CCD-TRV37 and has only regular audio/video ports...no s-video...not even stereo audio. I've already purchased Sony moviemaker 3.0 software, so I don't have to worry about that and my comp is powerful enough to handle the editing process. I also have a spare 40 gig HD, so I'm solid there. My dilemma is the card. Also, since I don't have a DVD burner...yet...I'd have to either record back to the camcorder or to a vcr, so I'd need video/audio outputs as well...or, if you could recommend a good, inexpensive burner, that'd be great! I've been searching for an adequate card, but haven't yet found anything. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

What is your budget? There are a thousand cards out there ranging from 30 buck to a thousand bucks or more.
And (this is important) what video card do you have in your system.

Budget...good question. I'd like something inexpensive...at most around $150. As for the video card I currently have, it's a very standard card containing only a monitor port. Checked the device manager, but it's coming up as "Unknown," so it looks like I have to open it up to figure out the model. Considering it's an old card, I'm not adverse to buying a new video card that includes video capture capabilities.

Thanks for the help!
