I'm trying to buy a nice camcorder this soon wanted to get some opinions on the VIXIA HF10.

Is this a good choice compared to the others out there ? Honestly I don;t know what to look for. I would like to get the best quality and prefer flash memory or Hard drive.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard really good things about the Canon HF100 for a flash based camera. You might read this post Here

leglez,

Thanks for that link, it looks like the HF10 and HF100 are almost the same except for the additional card slot.

hf11. minor improvements over the hf10 with the ability to capture at 24Mbps and doubling the flash capacity. very hard to beat.

one thing though, if you go with avchd, what are you using or planning on using to edit your footage with?
you can get some fantastic 24p with final cut pro and cinema tools by removing 3:2 pulldown.
with the hf11 shooting 1920x1080 and the ability to turn it around and actually print 1080p, you can crank out some great quality video on the cheap.

Thanks theblackbox,

I still am new to the realm of video, so I did not plan on what my editing software would be. Looking to read up on it as much as I can , but I definately agree with you on the HF11 over the 10 just for the space capacity alone i think its worth it.

well, if you go with avchd, make sure to read all about it. editing it can be, well... different. while becoming the new standard, it's worth knowing all about it.
