Hi,

Im going to buy a new 19" or bigger LCD screen soon, but i can't really make up my mind on which one. My choice has narrowed more or less to these monitors :
Samsung 193T (best 19" samsung monitor?)
Sony SDM-HX93B
Dell 2001FP

I've seen both the Samsung and the Sony in action, but I havent seen the Dell.
Im going to use the monitor mainly for surfing/reading/programming on my new pc. My previous monitor was a Sony G400 which I plan to use further with the new lcd screen. If the lcd monitor can be used to play games it's a plus, but it isn't strictly necessary since I can still use my old monitor for that.

Thx in advance for any advice/information

PS : this is a repost of a topic I posted in the peripherals section.

I don't think Samsung has a 193t. The t series in 19" right now are the 191t+ and 192 as far as I know. I have the 192t and am very happy with it. I went from using a 21" Mitsu 2040u as my main monitor to the 192t and am not going back to CRTs. I game plenty on it and have no problems. I can highly recommend the 192t.

I can't comment on the Sony or Dell from direct experience. Though I have heard a number of people have issues with image quality on the Dell. I haven't heard anything about the Sony.

If your budget can stretch some I would get the 213t. I think that will be my next purchase. But if I was getting another 19" I would get another 192t in a second. Its great.

Hmm i could've sworn it was a Samsung 193T I saw in the store :p
The lcd is listed on www.samsung.be (Belgium being my country).
I dunno how the 192T differ from the 193T, from the specs on the site the only differences are :
Pixel frequentie 135 mHz ->(down from 140)
Its also a bit heavier and consumes a bit more electricity. Its also black instead of silver but maybe u can choose the colors individually, dunno.

What exactly did u like so much about the 192T ? :)
Did u play games on it?

TIA :)

Ah, I looked on their site and didn't see the 193t. But I am in the US and was looking at that site. That probably explains why you see the 193t. I looked at the Belgian site and the 193t looks more like a 191t (which I didn't see on that site) then a 192t. I have no idea though, lol.

I have had my 192t for a few months now and some of the reasons I like it over the CRTs I have (Mitsu 2040u and Sony G520p, both of which I still have. I just use them on other systems now) include =

1) I just like the image better. Everything is very sharp. Its hard for me to explain but it just looks better. Also, even with the refresh rate set high the image on the CRTs just doesn't look as "stable". I love that the LCD has no flicker.
2) Size. Those 21" CRTs are monsters.
3) Heat. I could heat my computer room with those two CRTs, lol.

Number 1 is the main reason I love this thing. It just looks better. Numbers 2 and 3 were just a bonus. I game pretty frequently and its great for that as well. The native resolution for the 192t (and most 19" LCDs) is 1280x1024. Some games don't have that as an option. When I have had to do 1280x960 I have noticed no loss of image quality. I do have one older game that has a set resolution of 800x600 though. That does not look so good. In general though gaming is great on my 192t. I have had no problem with ghosting. The only two monitors I would purchase in the near future would be another 192t or a larger 213t.

I cant find the 191T on that site so I guess its discontinued. I doubt there will be much difference between the 193T or the 192T since the specs are nearly the same. I think the 213T is just a little bit too expensive although it would be quite nice to have :p
Thx for sharing ur experiences on this monitor, I'm gonna rule out the Sony now so it's between the Dell and this one then :)

Well, they still market and sell the 191t+ in the US. Since the 193t in Belgium looks a lot like the 191t I am wondering if they just changed the name for your market. If so I would get the 192t. Maybe email Samsung and see what they say about the 191t/193t.

The 192t is better then the 191t+. Not by a huge amount, but its abit better. And not much more money.

I'm getting the Samsung 213t. It costs twice as much as the 191t, but it's twice as big of a screen... or something.... There's some reason it costs twice as much, and I  it.
