Need urgent advice. My nephew has a Dell dimension 4700C computer and the on board video really sucks.. So we were thinking of getting a new video card to put into the computer. I was thinking of the EVGA or XFX nvidia 6600 GT PCI-E card but I'm not sure if the computer will be able to give it enough power.

So my question is, would a 6600 GT PCI-E vid card work? If not what would be the BEST and cheapest (under $180) video card (ATI/Nvidia) that can play games like Half life 2 and Call of Duty: united offensive?

oh, here is some info about the Dell 4700c TEXT

I'm planning to put in 1 gig of ddr2 ram.

Thank you all for your quick replies and advice.

go with EVGA 6600gt

you might need a new dell power supply though 270 watts is pushing it

From what I know.. the power supply is only 160 watt... That's what my nephew said was on the lable.

I wonder if dell sells replacement power supplies that are more powerful and that will fit into the 4700c. =\

Just checked.. and it doesn't look like they do =(

So if the 6600gt won't work... what other card would you recommend?
