So after 5 appts in 3 weeks, 4 reschedules, and countless headaches, I STILL don't have cable or internet at home.

This is where I can't find an alternative provider: I need at a minimum 2 HD-DVR boxes + 1 HD box to hookup 3 tv's. AFAIK neither directv or dishnetwork make that possible. Any feedback here?

Are there other alternatives that I haven't looked at? I thought about building the most gangster HTPC setup known to man, serving the whole house with something obscene like 3TB of storage, but that doesn't seem like such an appealing idea anymore.

Ive always wanted to build a super high end HTPC. 8 cable card tuners bunch-o-TB's, but way too expensive.

I think directv can do this set up. At least on their site you have the option of selecting multiple hd-tuners.

Directv sucks. I would never recommend them to anyone after the way we've been treated just recently. Plus, the HD and SD picture with TWC is superior.

comcast = twcable now

I tried to configure directv on their site, but they'll only allow 1 hd-dvr unit

When Direct TV "installed" they're service. They came in a old 4runner, and 5 very shady guys jumped out, and rushed around the house trashing everything. (almost didn't let them in) They left wires hanging around, they drilled horrible holes in the floor/walls with cables running outside the walls to the upper floors.

They were in such a rush (and obviously paid by the job) that they left alot of tools here. A storm rolled in that day and the service went out. Cancelled the same day it was installed.
