Hey
what would be a symptom if one of these components were starting to go bad ?
1)CPU
2)HDD
I have been getting some real weird things happening to my computer and I know its not the mobo, and video card since I replaced both.
The problems that I have been experiencing would be the usual stuff, (i.e.) Game lock-ups, Desk-top lock-ups, and also cannot load up Windows.
I have formatted the HDD at least 5 times since all of this started, which was about one week ago since troubleshooting my computer because when this problems starts it will get progressivly worse to the point where Windows will not load. And this is with just a few programs installed and a couple of games.
Heres pretty much the scenario, remove computer hardware (i.e. sound-card and nic-card) install Windows, load up DX drivers then video drivers and sound card software. Then load up UT and SOF-2 and start playing. This is where it gets weird, I can play the games sometimes for a very long time, like for two straight hours and then turn off the machine and got to bed.
Then wake up and turn on the computer and it will start its freezing up on me again while just at the desktop. Then at that point I know that there is no way I can game again because it will get to the point where I cant even load up Windows (Im leaving out all of the trying everything struff at this point)
I have two HDDs,
1) 40G with multiple partitions and 2) 27G no-partitions
one 400W-PS,
Good HSF (temps never above 45C)
AMD-1900+ cpu
TurtleBeach sound
Links nic
multiple fans in case
At first I just formatted the primary drive (C🙂 and the problem came back quickly
then replaced PS...same thing
then swapped HDDs...same thing
left out sound card and nic...same thing
bought new mobo...same thing
bought new GF4...same thing
removed both 2700DDR modules and then put one in at a time...same thing
now, at this point I have not tried a new CPU, because my temps are always low, always. But since I dont know that much about CPUs I have not tried swapping it out...dont got the money right now 🙁
Today I was thinking that it could be the HDD because I was looking for a common link and it comes down to the HDDs and the CPU but I have to tell ya, my temps are great....the reason why I think that it could be the primary HDD is beacuse ALL of my games are on there and of course the OS plus its partitioned.
I know Im leaving something out, Im kinda punch-drunk right now 😕
So what do you guys think ?
Thanks for helping...TP
