Need advice in purchasing PSU

Hi guys,

I am planning to purchase a radeon hd 7750 GPU.

My current PSU is a Frontech JIL-2414B 450W PSU and it cannot handle that card and I was looking for a budget PSU. I came across this one:

My system specs are:

Intel Core 2 E5300 @ 2.6 Ghz
Intel DG31PR Motherboard
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Samsung 160GB HDD

Please suggest me if this is a good PSU for my build..

Have you already tried you old power supply and had problems? It looks like you are swapping one 450 for another 450??

A 450 Watt PS should be enough with your 65 Watt CPU. Total system power in game should be under 200 Watts.

GX-450 is OK as long as you're paying less for it than Corsair CX430 V2

The problem is I don't know if my PSU can handle this card. Current voltage readings in my PSU are as follows:

+5V 45A
+12V 19A
+3.3V 28A
SB +5V 2A
-5V 0.3A
-12V 0.8A

and the following reading further confuses me whether my PSU can handle the card:

+5V +3.3V 240W max

One more thing I would like to mention is that I will not be able to game everyday, but I will game weekly once or twice for 5hrs and the rest of the week will be normal computing work.

I will mostly be playing FPS games like Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2, Battlefield3, BF BC2 etc.. Racing games like DiRT, GRID and NFS etc.., So, I don't know how much power is going to be drawn by the card during the gameplay. My resolution will be 1280x1024 or 1024x768.

I have read that people were able to run a hd 7770 on a PSU from the same brand as mine, but with less amperes on +12V rail..

So, please suggest me what is the best option available for me...

I don't know if it's discontinued or not, or if you confused the V2 with the original CX430 which indeed is discontinued, but it's still available in a lot of other places.

Where are you buying from and what other choices do you have available?

Antec Earthwatts 380.
80+ and can usually be found on sale.

I am from India and I mostly purchase online. I used to see a listing for Corsair CX430W on the site and from the past week it was dropped. I got all other brands like Coolermaster, Antec, Seasonic, but I don't know which one to choose and what power...

That is something that I am not able to determine: whether my PSU can support this card. Based on the readings that I mentioned above please let me know if my PSU can support the card, if it can then I will same some bucks and buy some RAM instead of a PSU.

this is the manual for your mobo.. it says you should have 2 10 amp 12volt rails or 1 20 amp 12volt rail. you state your current psu has a 19 amp 12 volt rail. it should work. read pages 45 to 58 in the manual. I think you could run that card with your current psu.

Please do not run your card on a Frontech PSU. Frontech PSU's are known for acting rogue even though they show 450 watts they don't even come close to dishing out the same. I'm from India, I have used Frontech and I know what they are capable of. Get a Seasonic/Corsair from Flipkart instead. You will have very limited choice as regards Antec in India, even if you were to find Antec PSU's they would be of higher wattage.

This is 80+ Bronze certified and can it power a GTX 550ti or a Radeon HD 7770?

Easily, but you would have to use an adapter because it doesn't have a pci-e connector. Usually comes with the videocard.

The GX450 ain't that bad either, just make sure you don't go for any other model in the GX serie, they're all crap. If it's cheaper than the Seasonic I would probably choose it because it does a have pci-e connector.
