Need advice in buying wireless pc card

Hey guys, I am looking to buy a IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless pc card for my laptop. Any suggestions for which card to buy? Any to stay away from? I'm looking for a cheapie-but-goodie.

<SARCASM> Really? but I heard cat5 was the best interface for wireless cards? I guess you can't believe everything you read on the net.... *sigh* </SARCASM>

Cheap and good is an oxymoron. For the money, Orinoco and it's variants is generally the best choice in the affordable 802.11b market.

Wireless PCMCIA Cards belong to three Categories.

1. I use the Wireless Computer in the same room or in the next room within 20? and no ?bunker? walls.

2. I am pushing the edge, i.e. more then 20? and more then one wall.

3. I am having few heavy walls and I need to be more than 60? away.

Condition 1. Buy the least expensive card you can find.

Condition 2. Buy Orinoco Gold.

Example: Proxim ORiNOCO Gold PCMCIA - 802.11b - 11 Mbps. $59.69

Condition 3. If you are using a regular setting of Entry Level Router or Access Point, do not bother to buy any card.

Distance numbers are approximation YMMV.
