read this. every system differs - each CPU, mobo, RAM will behave differently - so you'll have to follow the instructions in that thread to figure out the best settings for yours.

what changes did you apply? did you increase settings (e.g. FSB) slowly while isolating the others (low multiplier, low memory speed) or just jump to some really high setting right away?

no, i tried a modest overclock with the following settings -
hypertransport 4X
memory 166
muliplier at 10
HTT 240
i left the voltage at default figuring it would be good at these settings. what i did not find in bios was setting for async and sync for the buses. i did find setting for the PCI-E clock which i left at 100

follow the instructions as listed on that site. they aren't for fun, they are there to help you. that is, don't just jump to random settings like that as you'll have no clue what is holding you back... start by seeing what the max is that your board can handle by setting multiplier to 6 or 7, memory to 100... then see what your chip can do... then see what your memory can do... then consolidate it all.

guessing like you're trying to do now rarely works and usually produces unstable results at best.
