Last night, one of my hard drives began to crap out on me. It started to develop bad sectors all of a sudden and I need to back up everything on it. It just so happens that the hard drive is also my biggest one (160 GB full of data)!
When I started to burn everything onto 700 MB CDRs but it took too long (I didn't get any sleep since yesterday). I realized that I needed something else to do backups, so I started to look into DVD-Rs
To keep a long story short, I need to know what are the differences between the two formats (DVD-R, DVD+R) and what would my rebadged Lite-on DVDROM (16x) support?
How reliable are the DVD-/+R media? I understand that data integrity on CDR degrades in years, is it the same as DVD-/+R?
Is it dependent on format (+/-) and/or quality of the media?
I'm looking into getting this drive: Pioneer A06/DVR-106 supports DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW
With this Media: HQ DVD-R 1x to 4x (100 Pack)
Pls, any input would be useful right about now .. Thanks
