Greetings!
I'm currently running windows 8 64 bit on a RAID 0 config with two 150GB WD Raptors totaling a 300GB drive (279GB's to be exact). I run my basic programs from the C drive, but I have my games installed on a 3TB Seagate HD.
However, I got a good deal on a Samsung 830 256GB SSD ($149 at Microcenter). Basically, I want to get rid of the Raptors, move my basic operating system to the SSD, and have an option to dual boot between windows 7&8 64 bit (windows 8 is bearable thanks to classic shell, but most things work flawlessly on windows 7). Currently, I'm only using 121GB's of the 279GB RAID 0.
I tried using the Data Migration software by Samsung. I get a successful "transfer", but my SSD won't boot? It gets stuck on the blue square windows image. I've tried disconnecting my other HD's, and I've set priority boot permissions to the SSD changing/switching modes to ACHI and etc. Still no go. So, before I breakdown and do a fresh install of EVERYTHING, can someone give me advice on how to properly do this with success. Also, I have Acronis true image and everything is backed up.
Here are my specs if needed:
Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
Intel 3750
8GB of memory
Samsung 830 256 GB
Seagate 3TB HD
WD Raptors x2
Thanks in advance
