Need Advice: Gf got in a car accident

She rear ended someone. It's her fault and the accident did minor damage to her car(2003 Toyota Camry) and the car she hit(early 90's Ford Tempo) had his bumper knocked off.

She was going to call the cops but the other party said that he had no car insurance and didnt want get the cops involved.

So her options:

A. offer to pay for the repairs
B. offer to pay $150
C. not pay at all since the other owner didnt have insurance

What would u do?

go thru your (her) own insurance company. its her fault so she should have his car fixed. plus if u just pay cash, the guy might come back and sue you later saying his neck got whiplashed and now he's dead and wants compensation...

although the other guy did not have insurance like he's supposed to, he did not cause the accident.

her rates will go up for the next few years, make sure he gets some estimates first before deciding to pay him for the repairs or go thru insurance (depends on how much more than the deductible)

ALWAYS have the police there. they are your best evidence to what had occured. Being without insurance is ILLEGAL.

I would absoultely do C, either they can call the cops at the scene of the accident or fvck off. POS uninsured drivers

doesn't matter if they have insurance or not... that won't make the accident 'invaild'... so if you call the cops... first they deal with who's at fault with the accident... so obviously your insurance rates will go up if its your fault... then they deal with the driver who was driving with no insurance.

I wouldn't pay a dime. And yes ... still file a police report. Hopefully, she took down the license plate information and drivers license details from the individual that she hit.

When Judge Judy gets done with that driver, he'll wish that he had just said "let's just forget this even happened"

Is this in a fault or no-fault state?

If no-fault state, C.

If fault state, A. The other party's lack of insurance coverage does not change her liability for the accident. She may be able to get away without paying, but that doesn't make it right. At the very least she should give her insurance info to the driver whose car she hit so that person can choose to persue a claim or not.

Where did the $150 number come from ?

we're in houston so i'm not sure if texas is a no-fault state. $150 came from us because it's an old car and $150 is a good faith amount to pay for damages she caused.
