This is my first post. I apologize if this has beaten to death and appreciate ur help.

All, I have been following all the threads but can't seem to makeup my mind.
I am looking for a good video card for about $100. Purpose is light gaming & work but at the same time be able to watch dvd connecting to a big screen tv - HTPC (planning to buy a 42" plasma or RPTV).

Current setup. Abit NF7-S, XP1700+, Corsair XMS 512MB, 80gb Maxtor, Leadtek win2000 xp, Video ??

Here's my question. I found 3 compusa ad's today (July 4)...could u please advice if any of these are OK. Don't mind spending an extra 10-20 for a better one (if not one of these).

Here are the deals from compusa.

BFG Technologies Asylum GeForce FX 5200 Video Card, AGP, 128MB DDR - $99.99 after rebate
ATI Technologies Radeon 9000 Video Card, AGP, 64MB DDR - $79.99 after rebate
VisionTek Xtasy 9100 Video Card, AGP 4X, 64MB DDR - $49.99 after rebate

If you can get confirmation that the 9100 is not 64bit memory but 128bit then get that if not 5200

Well seeing that the 9100 you posted is half the price of the 5200, get that. As it should perform equal or slightly better than the 5200.

Thanks for the replies.
Is there any other card better than these for around the same price ($100). If so which one?

I would stay away from the FX5200 - When I've seen benchies of it everywhere it actually has trouble keeping up with a Geforce4mx460

So while it is a DX9 chip out there - its not going to matter if your games are running in a slideshow.

The 9100 should be faster than the 9000- but if you can get a Geforce4ti4200 for ~100....Newegg has them at around 115 with free shipping
