need advice from samsung 940b users

just got my samsung 940b silver yesterday, good build qulity, no dead pixel, very sleek look. hooked it up with a dvi cable, however, i played with all the settings a bit, but cant seem to get the colors right, they appear washed out and not clear, and all the color pictures look weird as result. they are not nearly as vivid as my roomate's Rosewill R912E which cost quit a bit less. I heard a lot about how 940b needs quit a bit tuning before get everything right, so what are the setting you guys use? do you use magic color or magic bright at all? they seem just increase the brightness to me. or did i get decfective unit? mine is made in tianjing, china, on oct/05, what you guys

i have similar monitor, non dvi... try upping ur contrast to 100 then find a brightness that suits

i use 100 contrast 0 brightness normally.. for movies i use 100 with 50 brightness
i find contrast to be the biggest decider of the colors being washed or not

if u use high brightness u will feel like the colors are washed too
