Need Advice for new MB

Hey Guys,

I'm passing down my current ECS K7s5a and Athlon 1800+ to my dad and am in the search for a new MB and CPU.

For the CPU, I'm looking at the Athlon 2200+ (since it's a big jump in price between that and the 2300+), and for the motherboard, it looks like from Anandtech and Toms Hardware that the nForce2 MB is tops (possibly rivaled by the KT400 or KT400A?).

Although I've seen a number of comparisons between MBs of the same chipset but different brands (Asus vs. Abit vs. MSI, etc), I've yet to see a real comprehensive list of tests that pit different chipsets against each other (and ideally also multiple brands of each chipset).

Does anyone know of any review that has this?

Either way, I'd like to get your thoughts on what MB gives the best performance for your buck, which brands tend to be better in quality and options (OC options like changing multiplier & Vcore would be a plus), etc.

Right now I'm leaning towards an nForce2 b/c it looks like it's tops in performance, but if there's something that's comperable for less, I'd like to know about it!

Thanks for your help!

You can't go wrong with the Nforce2 chipset. I like the Asus, but I hear that the Abit is also nice. Here's a link for the Nforce2 round up.
