I don't want to sound like a nerd who has no life, but I am off to college next year, and to be honest, I don't know what I want to do. I know I don't want engineering or science, but that's about it.

I'm pretty interested in working with games somehow, but it's not a thing I have really pursued at all. So, is there any major that can tie into game development or something of some sort? Now, I don't mean like a straight up Graphic designer thing, but something that can help me get a chance with the game industry, but also give me many options in totally different fields.

I hope that made sense.

BTW: I'm going to a 'normal' college, nothing like Full Sail or any technology specific place.

Cliff notes: 1) going to college
2) interested in games/gaming industry
3) need major (or minor I suppose) that can give me a chance in gaming but also get 'normal' jobs

If you want to get involved in games, you either have to be a 1) good programmer or 2) an artist. Those are really the two fields that will give you the best shot I would think...

Well I mean really anything in the industy, majoring in graphic design just seems like a one way road to game developing only, and I want other options.

I'm digging myself in a hole right now.

See, basically, in EGM, they have a special article on game jobs, and some of them are pretty neat and the majors are relatively normal ones, not just "Graphic designer", one of them was, I think, Management and communications

You can still major in other fields like Management or Communications but if you want to get into game development, you are going to have to pick up the necessary coding/designing/artistry skills through some method.

Math and Physics majors would probably be good too.

Definitely. When I interviewed with Midway Games they were very interested in my research with computational electromagnetics. The entire interview pretty much centered around solving various math and physics problems that arise in games these days.

Theres a million jobs in the game industry that range from coders & artists to marketing and janitorial work. Do what you're good at and interested in and then apply for a job in the game industry.
