i just bought myself an evga 6600gt and im more than satisfied with the the amount i paid (135) for the performance i put out. only problem is when i run games, specifically giuld wars for prolonged periods of time 2+ hours, the temps runs up to 80 degrees celsius...im pretty sure this is too hot as maybe once or twice my screen has turn completely blue or red. guild wars support told me it's probably a heat issue which was what i thought too so im looking into a better cooling solution than what came stock.

my card (reference only, i bought it from monarch)

any suggestions out there? for ex is like any cooling option out there going to be better than stock? i believe my cpu runs to about 60+ degrees celsius is that too hot (athlon64 3200+ venice core)?

60C @ load? High IMO, but still safe. I'd check the contact your HSF is making to the cpu and use AS5.

I've also heard good things about the Arctic Cooling VGA silencers. The NV6 would suit your 6600GT.

Also, 60C seems a little hot, but not dangerous. My 3200+ winchester only goes up to 45C under load.

I would be more concered with your A64 running at 60c+. Throttling doesn't even kick in on a 6600GT until 100c. I have a leadtek 6600GT, gets in to the upper 70s under load, my 6800GT gets to over 80c under load as well and runs just fine.

I replaced the stock HSF on my XFX 6600GT with the Zalman 700VF - Cu and it dropped my temps from 75 - 80C to around 50C under full load and I idle around 34C which is the same as my CPU. I just put a PCI slot exhaust below it to help keep the case temps lower around the card. Works great!
