System Specifications:

I. Processor/CPU: i5-760 @ 3.4

II. Current Graphics Card: evga sc gtx460 768mb

III. Display Resolution: 1920x1080

IV. Power Supply Unit Specification (Brand, Wattage, Ampage, Age). If possible, please provide a link to a website containing the power supply specifications: Corsair HX750, 750 watts, +12v 62a, ~2 years old.

V. Case Specifications(N/A, Model, Length, Low Profile, Cooling, HTPC, Water, Silent): Lian Li pc7fnw, 11.4 in. video card clearance

Purchase Details:

I.
Budget? Please be sure to include currency (If not USD), retailer preferences & specify whether rebates are a viable option. $300

II.
Any particular preferences (Manufacturer[nV or AMD], Brand[XFX, Sapphire, EVGA, etc], Cooling Solutions)? prefer evga or msi but brand is not that important.

III. Do you plan to have any Multi-GPU solutions such as Crossfire or SLI?

IV. Have you previously looked at a product(s) which you feel would fit your needs? evga b stock gtx580, hd7870

V. What are your needs for this GPU? Which games(If any)do you intend to play? If you have this information at hand, what are the desired detail levels? Skyrim with enb and texture mods. Witcher 2, TW Shogun 2, and probably Dark Souls.

VI. Do you plan on overclocking the card you intend to purchase? Would prefer not to, I like my pc quiet.

Additional Notes
Originally was waiting for the 660's but I've only got a month left before heading back to college and I want to get through some of my steam library before heading back.

First was considering the hd7850 but was worried about noise levels after overclocking. So currently looking at either getting a hd7870 or a b stock evga gtx580, but I'm open to any other suggestions.

Thanks

Spend another $20 and get the MSI TwinFrozr HD7950. It's probably the best card in your price range.

I wouldn't buy either the 580 nor the 7870. If you want to save some $, HD7850 is a good option, but it's significantly slower than the 7950. Overclock, it will perform as fast as a stock 7970 and even faster if you overclock past 1.1ghz.

Not a very good measurement for games, but you get the picture of how it would stack up against a 7970.

1250mhz is not a reasonable overclock on the 7950. 1150-1200mhz is where they will top out IMO.

I second Russian's suggestion of that 7950. The bigger memory and memory bus will help you in those games vs the cards you were looking at.

Sell your existing GTX 460 768MB SC + ~$300 to $310 and you can get either an EVGA GTX 670 2GB GDDR5 or a MSI GTX 670 2GB GDDR5.

Otherwise get a MSI Twin Frozr GTX 560 Ti 2GB or the EVGA GTX 560 Ti 2GB which are both well below $300.

Hi everyone thanks for the advice. Unless a better deals comes up this weekend it looks like I'll end up going with the msi 7950 (thanks RussianSensation for the suggestion and link).

Thanks everyone for the replies.
