Okay I know most of your are rolling their heads going oh no not another Ebay thread. Sorry but I need some advice asap.

2 weeks ago I put up an auction for some 5 Hip Hop CDs that I don't listen to anymore just to get a little money off of them. The ending bid was $13.50, shipping + handling was $5 for Priority Shipping. I sent the winning bidder an E-mail with the total and payment instructions. He doesn't reply but he calls my house (No idea how he got my phone number) saying that he'll be in the area visiting a friend (He lives in Las Vegas, I live in Los Angles) and would like to meet up somewhere and pick up the CDs so he doesn't have to pay for shipping. Now this took place last Sunday 1-13-03. He said he would be down by 6PM or so but I had to work at 6PM so he said he would stop by the next day.
He calls me up the next day at around 1 saying that his ride would be comming by soon and he would meet up with me in an hour or so. I agreed to meet up with him at a local shopping plaza. So I waited for him to call me back to let me know when he would leave his house. He calls me up around 4:30 telling me hes barely going to leave and it would take about an hour to get here in traffic. I told him I had to go somewhere at 5 so I couldn't meet up with him. He asked me what I wanted to do, so I told him to just send a money order, but I would lower shipping to standard parcel post which was still around 4 dollars and he agreed.

3 days later I recieve a Money order from the guy but it was for $15, he gave me a $1.50 for shipping & handling fees. I emailed him telling him that it was not enough for the shipping & handling and to send the remaining amount. of $2.61 because the package weighed 3 pounds and was a total of $4.11. He calls my house up and leaves a message saying he'd send it out on Monday 1-20-03. He calls me up yesterday but I wasn't home to answer the phone and my dad said he called a few times but didn't say what he wanted. Today he calls me up saying he wants his money order back and he doesn't want the CDs anymore. He doesn't want to pay the extra money for shipping and doesn't want the CDs anymore.

What should I do? This guy seemed kinda hostile over the phone. I feel if I leave him negative feedback he'll get upset and drive down here and do something.

I know it doesn't seem like much but I'm not eating the shipping bill because he decided not to send the extra money for shipping. I sold those CDs for next to nothing so I'm not making a whole lot on them.

Keep the cd's until he pays the rest of what he owes. He can't back out now, and I seriously doubt he would come to your house and beat you up over $15. Oh and give him a neg. feedback no matter what at this point.

Pick an option.

1. send the money back and leave feedback

2. keep the money order and take the 2.61 as a loss. Send the CDs.

3. Send him his money and the CDs. Promise to give him anything he wants in the future and apologize profusely for not waiting longer even though he was very late.

4. Keep the money and the CDs. Send an empty package with a note inside telling him to "Listen to this, mofo". Make sure the return address is on the package. Get extra security doors and windows and stay at home with a shotgun pressed to the hole you drilled in the kitchen wall until he arrives. Get a pit bull and dig holes all around your house and then cover with grass so they are invisible. Sit back and wait.

I always find it weird that people would rather forgo a few bucks shipping to drive somewhere and meet the person to get the items...it just seems like a big hassle for something that isnt mission critical for them to have right away. kinda creepy... It's not worth the hassle for me so i always say no pickup...unless its like some huge piano or something. If he doesnt want to pay for the shipping, just cancel the auction and file a non-paying bidder report and send his money back to him if its that big of a deal. It's not about the money, its about the principle, no matter how small change we talkin here....

unless you have another buyer lined up, OR really want the Cds then you just send them to him. eat the shipping or whatever AND leave him crappy feedback.

I'd say you should cash the MO, take your ebay listing fee, and send the rest back to him. It's right on the ebay site, a bid is a contract, if he backs out, he should take the hit, then leave him bad feedback too.

Tell him you keep the cash and the CDs unless he sends the extra money. If he doesn't, keep the cash and the CDs and buy me a fscking pizza.

Kenazo's logic is the correct one. However, contact the buyer advising the above situation, allow him 5 days from contact to send the other $2.61 then follow through.

It is going to cost the buyer some change anyhow to get the $2.61 to you.
If you send the $$ back to the buyer make sure that you account for the return costs as well as the Ebay fees.

He entered into a contract with you. He's in breach of contract. Get the additional money and complete the transaction.

All that hassle just for less than $5 in S/H? I would have just said no local pickup. Just caulk it up as a cheap learning experience and move on.

Maybe he should chalk it up to a learning experience. :D
A winning bid is a contract. He cannot back out unless you let him. Tell him to put the balance in an envelope and mail it. Net cost .37
Then Negative Feedback time.

If you are set on getting your full due amount just file a NPB alert, file for credit after the appropriate amount of time with ebay.
Nothing more to it, be sure to leave negative feedback.

have it ship media mail, since it's a media for less then 2 bucks. so this about average it out for you, but what he put you throught is BS. I would reject it since that would invade your privacy since you're both stranger. They don't have much of a brain do they? haha, one can easily figure out that it's inconvenient and it's not worth 5 buck saving either. I have a few dumb folk do this to me too, that were like 30 miles away and it just one freaking sound card. driving over to pick this up?? God, what some will go to save a few bucks. what i usually do is drop the shipping rate a little or make it exactly as what it cost me so they finally agree lol but what troublesome individual!

whenever some people ask me if they could come and pick up an item from my auction, I always say no, doesnt matter if they live next door or across the country. I just make up some bs excuse saying that Im not comfortable with strangers on my doorstep. but the fact of the matter is, the closer they are, the cheaper for the acutal shipping is, and the more profit I make off shipping.
