Need advice concerning insurance

My car was broken in recently, stereo stolen.

In order for insurance to reimburse/replace the stereo, I need some sort of documentation like a receipt. the problem is I bought it over a year ago, don't know where the receipt or box is. I called the store but they can't get the receipt that far back.

What can I do in this situation? Insurance refuses to help me unless I can get a receipt...

Did you buy it with a credit card? If you can get a year old statement from your cc company, maybe your insurance company will accept that.

If the store can't pull up the records, I'm not honestly sure if there's anything you can do at this point.

Hmm.... you're right, I have no argument for the stereo..... fsck!@

But, shouldn't insurance at least reimburse me with a stock stereo or equivalent $ ?

Does your insurance accept the packaging/box of your stereo? I showed them mine boxes when my car was broken into.

I'm not sure..... the problem is I dunno where all the boxes and stuff went... I might have thrown the boxes away, it was a while ago....

Get a better insurance company.
😉

Seriously though, you have no proof.
Find maybe a manual for the stereo, box, something.
Otherwise if that's their policy then there isn't anything you can do.

Well, the claim was filed for the entire break in which covered the windows and stuff, so the deductible has already been paid...

So back to my other question, shouldn't they at least reimburse me with a stock stereo or $$ equivalent?

I think your insurance would be reasonable about it if you can produce a receipt for the stereo. Otherwise, I think you're pretty much SOL. For all they know, the car could have come without a stereo in the first place? ::shrug::

Ok, cool.

I'm sure you can "find" a receipt if you "try" hard enough.

Say, do you have friends who upgraded their systems lately? 😉

This is probably your only option.
