Hi everyone,

I'm going to be setting up a system for myself... I will be using this computer mainly for productivity stuff, not a lot of hardcore gaming. I've been reading reviews, articles and everything.. but I'm having a great deal of difficulty deciding on which system to get.

For the CPU, I'm deciding between (I hope this thread doesn't constitute a AMD vs. Intel thread!):

1) XP2700 T-Bred
2) XP2500 Barton
3) P4 2.53 533

After considering the value, performance, price, etc. and all other considerations you can think of, which one is the better choice?

If the P4 2.53 is chosen, I'm considering the chipsets (for AMD, nforce2):

1) E7205
2) 845PE

Again, after considering the value, features, performance, price, etc. which is better?

Thanks a lot for any feedback.

Ok, here is a no brainer.

If you want a p4 2.53 or better and a 845pe and your on a budget get the Dell 4550 deal.

Dell 4550 2.53 or 2.66 for $20 more, 30 gig hd, 256md ddr for less the $400 AR. It's all prebuilt, no guess work.

Check the hot deals forum.

Good luck, Tom.

I went with the 2.66 and the only choice you have is the 845pe. Dell doesn't sell amd's.

i've not put together an intel system in years so i can't really speak to that. my humble suggestion is that you get an xp 2100, coupled with an nforce2 mobo, and overclock it. I cannot imagine a better price/performance ratio.

i've had particular success building systems based on that general configuration (not that i've built that many).

if you need any advice feel free to PM.
