I'm going to be putting a new video card in a friends computer since his video card is somewhat outdated. Since I'll be paying for the new card, I've been looking for cheap alternatives. I've decided to grab a Visiontek Xtasy Geforce 2 GTS-V from Newegg since it seems the be the most bang for the buck.

Was doing some research and decided to do an evaluation on MadOnion to compare my current system's Radeon 64mb DDR with the Geforce 2 GTS 32mb DDR. The results showed my systems current performance at 100% and with a GF2 the performance would be 110%.

Now I'm tempted to swap out my Radeon and put the Geforce 2 GTS in my system, and then give my Radeon to my friend. I figured both cards performed the same except that my Radeon was 64mb whereas the GF2 was 32mb.

Anyone have any advice on which card I should keep? Thanks in advance for your advice. Much appreciated.

the radeon is generally reguarded as a better all round card, where as the gts will be a better gaming card. so it really depneds what u wish to do with ur rig.

I disagree, if he were comparing the classic Radeon 32MB DDR to the GF2 GTS-V one might argue for the GTS-V offering better gaming performnace, but the 64MB DDR VIVO model was ATi's top card for awhile and generally compared pretty well against the full GF2 GTS let alone the lower clocked GTS-V.
And with the numerous other features the 64MB DDR offers over the GF2 core, I'd definitely go witht he 64MB DDR even if gaming is the only area of any importance.

Thanks for the info, guys! Keep the opinions coming. I'm kind of caught in the middle right now since I ran a 3dMark on my card and it really didn't seem to score that well. Radeon 64mb DDR = 3258...Geforce2 GTS = 4250. :(

Are you using the most current unnoffical drivers from Rage3D.com??

I score anywhere between 3800 and 4000 (depending on what day it is..) using the 6071 drivers, and my setup is somewhat comparable to yours.

I would keep the VIVO. It's great if you ever feel the need to edit some home video, and the DVD playback is superb.

I would rather my deciding factor be on real game play and video quality rather than the 3dmark score, personally. Some folks have incredible 3dmark scores and a particular game just dosent perform well, or vice versa, a not so good score, but high fps in a particular game.

My vote is keep the VIVO, it should game comparably to the GTS and have a bit more functionality.

In light of recent driver improvements and the rich feature set and image quality of the Radeon 64 MB DDR, I'd have to say that I'd pick that card over the GTS-V. Don't worry about 3DMark score as they're worthless and in actual fact the Radeon 64 MB DDR usually edges the GTS in high resolution benchmarks plus you definitely get an advantage from 64 MB VRAM over 32 MB VRAM.
