Ok, so I know this isn't about computers, but I really need some advice! Here's what I will have:
- 7.1 Surround Sound set up in living
- 8 Stereo speakers recessed in ceiling (4 rooms, L/R in each room)
I need something that will give me decent power (I don't have the money to go over the top), but I have a few things I consider important:
- # of Component inputs
- Watts per channel
- Zone 2 / Pre-outs
I've been looking at the Onkyo SR-702 and the Denon 2805. I've quickly glanced at the Harmon Kardon, but those are a little more pricy. I want a receiver that will sound great for movies & music & TV (of course, all of them
), but I want to be able to control both speaker systems with one receiver, hence the reason I mention Zoning. One thing I really like about the Onkyo is that, at least in the 702 model, the zone 2 hook up has separate speaker outs, instead of using the Surround Back channel. However, if a receiver does not have this, I've been told I could use the Pre-Out as a signal and then add an AMP for the power and push 8 speaker stereo system like that. Is this correct? Can I do this?
So, does anyone have any advice on which is better b/w Onkyo and Denon? What about HK without getting much more expensive. I'm looking for something around the same range as the Onkyo and Denon above (won't mention price, b/c that would depend on where you can find it the cheapest).
Thanks for the help!
