Need a wifi adaptor

I have a Lenovo all-in-one computer in my daughters room and the wifi is horrible on it. It's not the signal as it works fine in rooms farther away, it is the computer. So I need an adaptor for it. Either USB or ethernet is fine, just a recommendation for a decent one, clearly cheaper is better but want something good. If it can do 5ghz that would be even better but not required.

Before you spend money to replace the adapter, check to make sure the antenna wires are securely attached to the existing adapter.

I am pretty sure it is an antenna problem as it used to work fine. Motherboard was replaced under warranty a while back. I am betting it was damaged at that time. I don't use it so can't really narrow it down with any certainty. That said, I am not fighting with them again. I would rather get a USB adaptor and call it a day. Took two months to get them out the first time.

After browsing around smallnetbuilder the Edimax EW-7811UTC seems to a good value for the money.

Forgot I had an airport express laying around. Put it in bridge mode and called it a day. Still slow, 7mbps but better than the 2-3 it was getting. For an eight year old it's good enough.

Make sure the adapter is not blocked by AIO PC or other things. My brother in law likes to hide everything behind the monitor and wonder why the signal / speed is so bad.
