so I have a small christmas party among friends, and we decided for each guest to bring a "white elephant" gift that we will exchange during the party.

The gift is between $10 to $15 in value.

Any ideas?

I thought about gift cards, but I want it to be a bit more personal.

Those things you see when you get really drunk...DUH!

LOL I thought this term is more common.

It's a kind of a "generic" gift. i.e something that you bring to a gift exchange party.

We play that game at every Christmas Party for work for the past 15 years. A lot of people bring stupid little items. I once opened up a remote control fart machine. Another time a dancing Napoleon Dynamite doll, and another time a bag of "Joe's Fartless Bean" mix.

IMO, and depending upon the maturity level, bring something that is absolutely hilarious. Nothing is more boring than a common gift...and funny memories of the gift are always the best.

I got a spray bottle of deer scent one year. Traded it for a huge bottle of polar vodka! ;)

Great gag gift.

Go to Target and get some trinket there.

White Elephant doesn't always involve swapping, as the Wiki states. For some people, WE is a "find random gifts around your house and send 'em out" affair. Got a half-used bottle of cologne that you don't wear anymore? Throw it in the box. Bought some nice, new poker chips? Throw your old, cheap ones in the box. Fancy, new hard drive? "Recycle" your old one.

That is the true white elephant. Something that didn't sell at your last 3 yard sales.

Did this make anyone else think of Creed's secret Santa gift to Jim on The Office?

Wal-Mart had a lot of little gift packs for just under $10. Hot sauce, smores, hot chocolate, etc. We got a pack of Floam (little beads that you could smoosh together and make foam like stuff) and the smores set for my white elephant gift exchange. A little girl got the Floam and would cry if we pretended that we were going to steal it from her.

Alcohol is always popular.'
So are video games and wallets.

I see green dinosaurs when I get drunk.

This is a reference to a specific drink at the bar I went to when I turned 21 while in the Navy.
