need a web page copier / cataloger

i'm looking for an application that will follow embedded links in web pages, generate a tree and allow me to copy a selectable subset of the pages onto my hard drive with a conversion to local links.

this is mostly to get manuals and technical stuff that is often many multiple linked web pages onto a local disk to read at my leisure and when the net is down (unfortunately not as rare an occurance as it should be where i work)

any ideas or help much appreciated
