i'd like a vivo card but i'm not sure which would be the best one to get for the money. originally i was leaning towards a radeon aiw, then a 7500 aiw, then to nvidia personal cinema, then back to ati, etc. i'd like to transfer shows from my replaytv to my computer and perhaps back again, and also play divx movies on my television. because i don't need or even want all the features from the aiw line, i'm leaning towards a radeon vivo or an msi geforce3 ti200 vivo. are there any other cards i should be considering? how do they compare to each other? i'd just feel somewhat bad for spending ~$150 on the 1 1/2 year old radeon vivo. any thoughts?

nearly forgot: games. sadly, i don't play them as much as i used to, but i'd spend $20 more for better technology. as far as my system goes:
athlon 1800
epox 8kha+
512 pc2100
sb live (the old, original one)
samsung 19" 955df
VERY sufficient cooling
thanks much!

I'd get a aiw 7500, which i am going to get soon for some of the same things you are. I have heard nvidia's TV out isn't the greatest.

From what I've read, here's another vote for the AIW 7500.

I just ordered a AIW 7500, I've been real happy with my Radeon VIVO and AIW Radeon's. They are still very viable cards despite being a bit dated now, even my AIW is a capable gamer still, and with MMC 7.5, multimedia features are great.

You don't have to spend $150 though. I picked my current AIW Radeon for $110 from the FS/T forum (no cables) just recently. VIVO's are going for around that price as well. After my son picks which one he wants, I'll have either an SE VIVO or an AIW Radeon for sale in a couple days for a good price, and I got the AIW 7500 for $160 shipped from newegg because of a special they're running bundled with an AMD processor (picked up a 1.4 Tbird).

so the geforce is out then, i'm a little disappointed but not too much because i don't play many games. now, except for the tvtuner, what's the difference between the vivo and the aiw? i know that aiw versions of their counterpart radeons are slightly slower; is this the case for the vivo as well? also, the 7500 has the same architecture as the radeon, but just a little smaller. couldn't i overclock the radeon to match the 7500? or is there enough of a difference that it'd be worth it to buy the 7500? i know this sounds like i want a better graphics card then i need, but i just don't want to fall back too far since i'm building a new computer and it'd suck to be outdated before it was even built ;). so now i think it comes down to the radeon vivo and the 7500 aiw. what makes the 7500 stand out? thanks for all your help, btw! :D

Well I have an AIW Radeon, a Radeon VIVO SE and an AIW 7500 on order. Both the AIW and VIVO are great cards for me.

The gaming performance, and increased TV-out resolution, extra/faster ram over the AIW. HydraVision support allows better output options, the price point and the remote control were all reasons I went with the AIW 7500.

I would wait until April when the GeForce Ti 4200 comes out, great power for games, with a tv out. With it you could still play UT2 at acceptable speeds and watch DIVX movies on your tv.
