I'm not looking to spend very much. I would like a decent USB microphone for voice and instrument (guitar) recording. I'd like to keep it at $100 or less. So a sm57 with adapters is out.

Any suggestions?

The CAD U3, U37, Samson G Track and MXL 990 USB all seem to fit the bill but are they any good or should I look to something else? This is for really lightweight use.

A suggestion of a forum dedicated to this subject would also be worthwhile.

Thanks!

M-Audio's USB microphone gets good reviews, the Samson is also well regarded. Best Buy by me carries both. The Samson is $89, but now I think about it I don't think it's the G Track. Still a pretty good mic. I'm on the verge of getting the M-Audio myself, I really like the headphone jack built into it. Perfect for when doing vocals. I have other M-Audio recording stuff so I'm kind of bias toward them. Good quality though.

Except I'd have to buy a preamp and cables. Still, I'm thinking of doing something like that. Just to give me a few more options...

Thanks for the suggestions!

After all of that I bought a Blue Microphones snowball. The samples seemed good. Reviews seemed good. Price was great. I kept getting nickle and dimed by cables and everything else. This seems like a nice mic to get started with. If I use it a lot I'll buy something better.

Thanks for the help!
