Need a USB Hub/Card and a eSATA Card

PCI or PCI Express

I need to connect a external HD via eSATA and would like more USB ports...

Have 2 PCI-express and 1 PCI slots open.

What are your suggestions as what to do? I've been looking for a PCI-E card that has both USB and eSATA but so far haven't found anything too promising.

I wouldn't be opposed to an external USB hub + a SATA card either.

So what should I do?

i'm looking for something like that as well. esata+usb +possibly a firewire port and all on a floppy bay... tied with a bow :gift:

i'm even willing to put the bow on myself.

www.frontx.com offers front panels that you can customize with the ports you want and cables for both internal (pin) connections or external (std. connector) connections. Or you can buy cables to make your own custom setup (maybe out of one of your case's bay filler plates). I bought some of their cables to upgrade the front ports on my Wave Master case. The only thing I haven't seen there is an eSATA port cable.

A point to be aware of is that there are external SATA and true eSATA. For true eSATA, the ports have to support extra current and better shielding (for longer cables) and has a different connector (tongue inside the connector is straight). External SATA is really just an internal port extension with only normal shielding and the tongue in the connector has a hook on the end. With older mobos, you'd probably have to buy a card with significant electronics on it to get true eSATA - the connector will be right on the slot plate. With normal SATA ports the total cabling has to be 1 Meter or less.
