Any suggestions? Anything between 32" and 44", I'm out of the loop since I bought a set so long ago. I guess only must have criteria is 1080p and HDMI, other features. Just by looking at few, I noticed that the value/quality varies wildly within similar price range so asking for help here.

if you aren't in a hurry i'd wait for the black friday sales. i picked up a 50" LG plasma from microcenter for the bedroom for $350 after $75 MIR over labor day. i wouldn't be surprised if it came up again or something close. and it has a great picture as well.

GF has a 32" or 34" 720p set at her place, it looks both bad and small to me. My place has similar distance from couch to tv, I do need a 40"-44" 1080p set. I found one "in store only" deal, $299 40" Phillips 1080p refurbished set but none of the 3 Walmart stores I went to had them. I could still score a 39" Emerson/Sceptre for that price but none were on display to check them out and I shied away mostly because I read bad reviews, "bad sounding" brands and they didn't have one to check out in action.

Will wait for deal to grab one from the black friday deals. I got instant notification set for this thread and looking for deals, please guys, post 'em when you see'em.

i prefer led tv's for their simplicity and durability. the backlights also turn on faster then ccfl's.

Best Buy will have a 50" Toshiba 1080P for $400. But for that kind of space I would wait and save your money unless you absolutely have to have on right now. I'd wait and catch an 73" Mitsu DLP on sale for $800 or so. That is a huge distance from the TV. You need size and lots of it. Personally I'd move the couch closer.
