Need a super super popup stopper.

Help, I am flooded with popups and I have tried many popup stoppers tools and still can't get the one that works...

The popup stoppers I tried do get rid of normal popups but not the type that appears as a picture in the middle of my desktop..... No windows title... can command my tools to kill it...

What is this type of ads... why so stubborn? It always stays on top of other windows and blocking my views to others...

Some have a little "close x" that can click to close and some..... don't even work at all !!

Please advice what to do.

First step is to make sure you don't have any spyware. Download Spybot http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html and make sure to update it. Then do a scan and remove everything it finds. Reboot and scan again. If it finds anything that you told it to remove then you might have a bigger problem.

After that, I find the built in pop up blocker in FF and IE7 (yeah yeah I gave it a try) to be adequate, so I haven't used anything else. Perhaps try the google or yahoo toolbar?

Also, turn off the Messenger service if you haven't already. This is different from Windows or MSN Messenger and is not needed.

Click on Start ---> Run. Type in services.msc and hit OK.
Find Messenger. If it already is disabled, then there's nothing to do.
If it is enabled and running, right click on it and select Properties. Click Stop. Next, change the start up type to Disabled and hit OK.
