Need a small heatsink (1U?) for P3-1.2GHz

I know, I am living dangerously ...

I've got an Intel N440BX motherboard and two 1.2G socket P3s with socket-to-slot (Tualatin-compatible) adapters. I will be underclocking these CPUs to 900MHz since the motherboard can only handle a 100MHz bus.

Unfortunately, the retail heatsink+fans are too large when used with the socket-to-slot adapters. My unsophisticated ruler says that the retail heatsink-fan is 1.75 inches above the heat spreader. Is there anything shorter that would adequately cool these underclocked chips? Would 1U chip coolers fit?

Thanks in advance.

How much space do you have? That would be more useful to know than the size of a heatsink that doesn't fit.
1U heatsinks tend to suck and be very noisy.

What I would try:
Take the fans off of the heatsinks.
Rig up some kind of mounting to hold 1 or 2 80mm fans blowing down on heatsinks
