Hi all -

I'm looking for servers for small business (about 15 ppl large, about 5-8 of which will be developing on the server).

Not particularly picky about Windows or Linux (if that matters)

Anyway, we will be developing in the languages mentioned above (flash, php, mysql) - So we will need more CPU than storage (and probably a decent supply of RAM).

We have a rack so we aren't limited to looking for a tower.

I was hoping to get some suggestions for say $1500 max (probably a bit cheaper preferred).

Perhaps building one might be better (tower i suppose then...) but Dell's or whatever is fine - just looking for general suggestions!

We have the knowledge to use Linux :p
From what I do know, Linux will be much better for overall compatibility (esp with using Apache and if we use Subversion) so I'm in agreement there.

Now...for where to buy...

I use a p3 laptop as a server.... Apache, MySQL, etc...

But, I guess you'll be running more stuff on it then that, and with more users, lol...

Yes - we all currently have our own boxes with a WAMP install, but we are finding ourselves in need of a centralized server with an SVN

The idea is also being floated around that we get some Web hosting (a vps) that we use for testing purposes, as long as we can get SVN on there. That way we get tech support that comes with the web hosting (We use a hosting company who's tech support still amazes us all the time).

Any comments on downfalls of this?
