I wnat to get a small network set up so I can start learning more about networking, as well as a couple other reasons. I was debating betweent he Dlink DI-624 and the Linksys WRT54GS. But since all I really need it for is for broadband internet sharing, Tivo multiroom viewing, and to get my PS2 online, I was wondering if I should just stick with cheaper 802.11b stuff. I know the tivos use 11b, and that should be more then enough for even broadband sharing, what about the PS2, does that need more bandwidth for online games? If so thats still not a deal breaker, since my main Tivo and PS2 are pretty close to my desk, so running cables to them should be easy enough. The Tivo upstairs in the bedroom is the main reason I need the wireless.
I do suppose the potential for some file swapping between the 2 computers is a possibility, but probably wouldn't be too often. Although the few things I can think of that I might need it for would be for backups and other large file transfers. I am willing to go 11g if its needed, especially with the hackable firmware and extra features of the linksys, just wondering what everyone else thinks. Also what about power line networking, is that plausable at all?
