This is where I get the horror stories about the 9800pro. BTW, there is not 11 billion 9800pros in the world. There are only like 20 million Geforce 6 and 7 series cards out there in the world. I get this because I read somewhere about a month ago that there had been 19 million Nvidia 6 and 7 series of cards installed around the world. That's like a year and a half from when they first came out in June of 2004. 2x that and you get like just 40 to 50 million radeon 9800pros in the world, not 11 billion. And there probably is more FX 5950s than just 3 still standing.
1. it was hyperbole and it was a reference to the leafblower cooler and even higher temps of a 5950. Seriously, it's a joke.
2. Newegg reviews are bs. the people that thnik they are high in the tech knowledge are the same ones on the cs:s servers sounding like 12year olds bragging about a1m h4xx and threating to use their ub3r 1337 5k1llZ to hack your pc. Also, many people buy dell cases which are horrible for cooling. On the top of the line xps, I kenw a guy who has a 9800pro that overheats and has the same problems described. Why? There is 1 exhaust fan and that has a full duct to the cpu. Therefore, all the noncpu air is just flowing around worthlessly not being exhausted. His hdd temps were ~55*c(my hdd rarely reaches 35*c in a properly vented mATX htpc case. Coincidentally, the people with horribly vented cases tend to be the stupid 12 year olds that ruined cs and cs source. In newegg high, means knows how to open case and plug in a card wrong and then complain why the thing dosent work.
