Hi,

I'm looking to build a Phenom 2 : 955 oriented system. However I am having a lot of trouble finding a motherboard that is reliable and will work with the processor out of the box. Reading reviews it seems a lot of the boards WILL NOT work with the 955 out of the box but only after a bios update. Not having another chip to put into the motherboard, would leave me with useless equipment since I wont have a way to update the bios.

So, I am looking for a RELIABLE motherboard that will work with the Phenom 2 955 out of the box without having to update the BIOS (since I wont be able to do that). I would prefer something that uses DDR3. So far, looking on Newegg, I havent found such a contender. It seems people are having trouble with every major manufacturer...

If anyone has a suggestion, preferably on personal experience, I would be VERY grateful.
Thanks for reading...

Yeah that pretty much looks like your best bet since it has the latest SB750 southbridge. I don't think there is that big of a difference between 790X and 790FX.

What's your budget? Currently, for AM3 DDR3 people are raving about the MSI GD70 so if it fits to your budget get that, however don't worry- that Giga board will probably be just as good for overclocking etc it just hasn't had the same coverage. Don't bother with Newegg reviews they're usually made by idiots or people that don't understand how and why problems arise with something they purchase, look for some reputable reviews from various websites like AT.
