Can somebody still using MS IE default search assitant be so helpful and send me all the registry entry in following path?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search

One of the pop-up-spam was contaminated and installed a weird toolbar, screwed up my homepage setting and screwed up IE default Search assistant in the registry entries. Whenever I click on the weird toolbar, it takes me to http://www.allcyberserach.com, the spam. Furthermore, when I close the window, it sets my homepage back again to that crap.

Please send the .reg file to jerboi@doramail.com

Thanks a bunch :)

Instruction:

Hit "Start", choose run and type regedit

From file menu, select "export reg"

There is a row at bottom for specifying path. copy this in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search

name it file.reg

now please send me that file.

I got the same version.. Well I have no idea what the original entry was and customize button is now fubar'ed cuz I deleted the whole /Search registry. I should be able to restore it if I can get registry from someone tho.

I don;t think this is default.. someone installed Yahoo messenger on my comp..
but it should still work for you

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
"SearchAssistant"="http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchasst.htm"
"CustomizeSearch"="http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchcust.htm"
"CustomSearch"="http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/ymsgr/defaults/cs/*http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html"

Open it in Notepad and save as .reg file

if you go to allcybersearch website, you can seee the small link at the very bottom of the page.....

Set your Search Page to MSN:
download this file to your desktop and double click on it.

that has the registry file you can use to set it back to msn .....

good luck

Cool. That worked like a charm. Naturally I never bothered to even look through the page setup by spamware.
