I've been looking at several cards on Newegg, Amazon and eBay and none of them seem to receive consistently good reviews. So I'm looking to fine folks here to recommend a good card for me.

It will be for an Intel 330 SSD (180GB) on an Old ASUS M2N68-LA motherboard that refuses to see it as anything higher than SATA-I when hooked up to the on-board SATA ports.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Your motherboard only has a PCIe x1 slot available (your graphics card is using the PCIe x16 slot) so you can only connect a x1 controller card to it.

You need a PCIe x4 or x8 card to get maximum advertised speeds from any SATA III SSD.

SATA III speeds are from 301MB/s to 600MB/s, so expect speeds around 400MB/s with a PCIe x1 card.

Here's a decent card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816132030

If it won't see the SSD as SATA 2, your best bet would be a new motherboard, with an AMD chipset, preferably at least an 8-series. You're not going to get the most from a year 2012 SSD, using it with a year 2007 chipset. It'll still beat any HDD, however.

A PCI-e 1.0 1x slot will not quite give you even 3Gbps. I can't find any mention of PCI-e 2.0 for the 630a (7025/7050), and it's kind of old, so the 400MB/s of the Marvell is not likely. Such a card would instead get you from near 150MB/s to near 225MB/s (while if the mobo saw the SSD as SATA 2, it would get ~270/MB/s).
