i have a readeon 9700pro as my main card (works fine for me), but it only has 1 DVI port obviously...

i have 2 2005FPWs as of the recent sale, and i need another DVI port, but i dont want to upgrade to a really expensive dual DVI card capable of playing games just yet. i just need something to get by in 2D for the 2nd monitor...as cheap as humanly possible!

i have not seen any good threads on this in video or GH, so dont get pissed if you think its a repost. chances are ive read the other post and didnt like what it had to say.

thanks

Is there anyway to tell which of these cards will support 1680x1050 over DVI? I just bought the Dell 2005FPW and cannot seem to get my Diamond S60 set to 1680x1050. I tried several drivers and none offer 1680x1050. So I need another card (PCI only) or a way to make the Diamond S60 work. Any suggestions?

have you updated the drivers? usually the drivers are the only thing modes are specified in, the card itself can run just about anything. though dvi might throw a wrench in the process. have you tried powerstrip?

Oops! Once I actually connected the display, the settings allowed me to set the resolution to 1680x1050. I had been trying before I got the display connected and it did not offer that resolution as a choice. So now I can verify for the original poster that the Diamond Stealth S60 PCI card will work with the Dell 2005FPW. Certainly not the fastest solution on the block, but then I only paid $15 for the adapter.

So the ati 7000 series will run 1680x1050 over DVI? I've been looking for a cheap PCI that will do just that. Oh, and where can you pick one of those up for a mere 15$?
