My company is getting me cell phone and I have no idea which one to choose. I think I can choose from Nikia, Ericson and maybe Motorola and Panasonic (edit) and Siemens.

People here have a Nokia 8210 and Nokia 6210, so it has to be in that price range.

currently I have a Nokia 3210 that I bought for myself, so I dont want another one of those.

So what would you take?

I love my Motorola SC3160, it gets great reception, the calls are always clear, and I've never had one dropped, even while roaming in a non-digital area an entire state away from my normal calling area. The SC3160 is a boring phone though, basic black, no special ringers, no text messaging or wireless web, but it is very high quality, it just lacks gimiks (sp?). Overall, it's a great phone for left-brained people, the right-brained types will find it unappealing.

If you can pick one up, the new Nextel phones are awesome. Direct connect to your friends allows you to talk unlimitedly without using minutes, if they have the same type of phone. Wireless internet interface is pretty good as well.

I hate my nokia 8260... bad hissing sound when im using it..believe me it can get REALLY loud... poor reception.. plus AT&T bites in my area. I get no reception in my house where a person with sprint will get calls.

I have a nokia 6120 that I like alot. It was free too.I used at CES in the building with all those electronic gadgets and thousands of other cell phone users, and the calls where crisp and clear. It is both analog and digital and can roam anywhere.

Did I mention the price?

Free at cellular one!:D

I forgot to mention. I have a startac flip phone too. Its small and cute and it sucks the big one! Its battery life is good for maybe 1 hour. It would really run out of juice in an 8 hour day. Not so with my Nokia. It can run on one charge for two days and I never lose a call. It's a good cell phone,no joke.

I know Samsung wasn't on your list, but I highly recommend the SCH6100. It's amazingly small, well built, and sturdy phone (I've already dropped mine twice with no problems). It's got voice-recognition dialing for up to 20 names/numbers (I think), 99 phone book names with up to 4 numbers associated with each, a voice recorder for memos, minimal personal organizer functions (to do list, calendar), and a great screen with animated icons and image support for wireless web. I love it! Oh yeah, and battery life rocks...6 days of standby/4 hours talktime.

I got the Nokia 8260 with AT&T and I love it. No problems with reception in my area (Philly). Great coverage.

It's small enough to put in your pocket (weighs only 3.4 oz, measures 4" x 1.5" x .75"), 35 preset ringers, you can download 5 more custom ringtones too, vibration alert, 2 way text messaging, email, you can store 250 contacts. It doesn't have web-access though. It has a 2-3 hour talk life or 10 days on standby.

To find your perfect cell phone you have to bear in mind:
1) That it has to work on your cell phone providers network.
2) Size matters.
3) Battery Life (talk and stand by).
4) Features, features, features.
5) Price.

I personally LOVE my Nokia 6190. I checked out the new Nokia 8260 and it's just to tiny and would cost me $169 !!!

I just bought a couple of Kyocera/Qualcomm2035s and use Sprint PCS. I'm extremely pleased with it.

Kyocera 2035

So far, I cannot fault this phone.

I was just browsing in Best Buy the week before Christmas and the Salesman and I were talking coverage, etc. So I ask him how much a minute? He had to get a calculator and came up with 2.5 cents a minute. I'm on AT@Ts best rate at 5 cents a minute on the landline. If you include the $100 Best Buy card, earbud free after rebate, $100 back from Sprint, it's an incredible deal! After the rebates and incentavive they are free!

I would not use Sprint for business as they are limited in coverage, but I'm willing to live within those limits. Great phone though.

Well, I worked at RadioShack for a long time, and I have this to say. Don't use a nokia 61xx series phone with sprint. There are definate compatibility problems there - I had one, and I ditched it after 2 weeks. I was dropping calls, poor reception, fake voicemails, I mean it was bad.

I had a samsung 3500 for sprint, and it's reception was pretty good. It's a slick phone, has wireless web and voice recognition, although the battery life isn't as stellar as it could be - 2hrs/2days. Tops.

I have a StarTac now, and I think it's a good phone. It has a bunch of features I never use [web, to do list, timers other shiz] ... It's reception is good -- not the best that I've ever seen, but if there is any service, it will work. Plus, it folds up nicely and even comes with a belt-holder-clip thing, which I think is really really cool.

My girlfriend hates it because it "doesn't look like a phone."

I have the 8210 and it's very good. The new 8250 has just been released here....it's a revised 8210 with a blue LCD, a redsigned keypad and a few extra things as well.

It doesnt realy matter who will service me or how the reception is at a certain company. I live in iceland and we have a rather good overall gsm system here. Nokia, Ericson and Motorola are the most popular here.
