I have a client, a law firm, that is looking to add a high-volume scanner (approx 100-page capacity or document feeder) to their practice. A piece of equipment such as this is beyond the scope of most popular review sites, so I am wondering if any of my fellow IT brethren can recommend such a beast. Thanks in advance...

I would suggest expanding your search to include multi function copiers (full-sized ones, not the home-office ones). Most modern networkable copy machines can quickly scan large quantities of documents directly to PDF. One of my clients uses a Canon ImageRunner 4080i to do this on a daily basis. In a few minutes, this unit can a whole stack of documents to PDF, do the OCR thing, and deposit the file onto a secure file server, or send directly to the user's email address. Also, offices can lease these machines pretty inexpensively, so there is not a big investment required up front. Hope this helps!
