The parts:

Biostar TA790 A3+
C2 965BE 3.8@1.44v/2.8@1.44v
2x2GB OCZ DDR3 Gold
Sapphire 4850 512MB 730/1168@ stock volts (might play with the voltage once accelero S1 arrives here)
Chaintech AV-710
Visiontek HD650 (PCI-e 1x I believe.. could live without it, oh well)
Toshiba SD-H802A HDDVD Drive
Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 (7K1000.B, 7200RPM 1TB)
Samsung HD501LJ (T166, 7200RPM 500GB)
WD1001FALS-00E8B0 (Caviar Black, 7200RPM 1TB)
2x GentleTyphoon 1x Slipstream (to replace the GPU fan)
may add another HDD in the future, 1TB-2TB range

Currently I have it paired up with a EW430, getting some occasional lockups which I am attributing to the PSU; didn't have this problem before upgrading the GPU to the 4850.

With the accelero S1 rev to I have recently purchased for the 4850, I doubt I would do CF on this. It is a secondary rig after all. But there is a slight chance I might sell the card and upgrade to a better single card, or even CF is possible if I happen to find another super cheap 4850 :)

What do you think would be fitting 1)for now, including an additional HDD 2)another 4850 (just in case)?

Antec PSU calc tells me I would need 1)459W 2)543W at minimum (90% TDP for the CPU, 90% system load).

I am open to deals including rebates/BCB, been eyeing on recent antec deals, otherwise the TP new line. Modular would be nice, but not necessary if that means more than $10 difference in price. Are HX's better than TX's other than being modular? My main rig has a TX850 btw, not sure where it stands today's standards. Looks don't mean much to me, so I don't have anything against XFX either.

Oh, and I need to buy a new PSU anyway, so just sticking with the EW is not an option. My friend has just bought parts for a HTPC without a dedicated GPU, and could probably get by with something as 'lowly' as an EW430. I explained the whole situation to him and he agreed to take it off my hands for cheap, hence my pondering with the possible upgrade paths.

well, I was looking for something that's considered good value for performance. If I would have to wait for a deal, that would be ok.. not in a huge rush or anything. The recent one I saw as TX750 going for $68 shipped AR. The cheaper the merrier of course, but still want some quality (quietness especially).

depends on the wattage I guess. I don't want to set some kind of hard limit on price, if the difference is 'worth it' I would pay for it. Being modular is definitely not one of them for me however. I don't even have a side panel and the PSU sits at the bottom in my case, not really crazy about cable management either.

I was looking at the JG review when they had a deal on the 700W version at mwave for $30 shipped AR;
they gave 7.5 for performance (had some major ripple) for the 700W version. Besides, I hear these recertified OCZ powers are prone to DOA, so I shied away from the deal. Finally, shipping isn't free on that 600W in the linky :(

So to answer alm4rr's question again, I guess I am not too comfortable with stuff that have some known flaws in the key aspects (voltage regulation, ripple control, fan quietness, efficiency, etc)

Would you get the 750tx over this?

I have read other threads here, and the consensus seems to be that the TruePower New lineup has great bang for buck. Seeing it how it should be newer than 750TX, I am wondering if antec would be a better PSU. Would have gotten the 750TX back when they had it for ~$70 AR :(

I have the same PSU, without the LED's. Its extremely quiet and very stable. Happy with my purchase overall.

Here is a quote from jonnyguru

Antec continues their evolution of the Truepower name with a unit that surpasses all previous Truepower incarnations easily. Coming in with performance reminiscent of models significantly more expensive and 80 Plus Bronze levels of efficiency, there's not much to hate about the Truepower New 750W. I think Antec could do with making more of the hardwired cables modular, but other than that, there's no reason you shouldn't buy one of these as soon as they hit the shelves. Signature too expensive? Too many people around you own a Corsair and you want to be different? Truepower Trio just a bit too lackluster for you? You too can have a True New.

Forgot to mention there is a $20 discount coupon on it, bringing the total price down to $79.99 shipped.

I think the TPN and Corsair HX PSUs are just about equal, they're both great products. I simply went with Corsair because their customer service and warranty are the best in the industry.
