I was going to use an old DVD-RW drive I had lying around to use in an HTPC I'm putting together, but anytime you put a disc in, it spins up to max speed and is just way too loud. Is there a drive that is more or less silent when all you want to do is watch a movie?

ASUS DVD-ROM Drive

I have that. It's almost silent. This is just a dvd-rom drive so I dont' know how quiet their dvd-rw drives are.

My ASUS DVD-RW is the loudest optical drive I have ever owned. VERY annoying! :frown:

Cool, thanks, I may check that out. I really don't need a DVD-RW drive, so the DVD-ROM will work fine.

BTW - How come they don't make more slot drives? I had one YEARS ago, but they're few and far between these days.
