AFAIK, your cable/dsl router won't work if provided by your cable/dsl company.

You'll need a T1 CSU/DSU in order to terminate your T1 circuit. Cable/DSL routers dont have those. So the answer is most likely no.

The cheapest you could get would probably be a Netopia on ebay. Link

Are you sure you are getting a T1 circuit terminated to your location? Or are you getting access to a shared T1 in an apartment, etc.

I would agree if this was for home use, but we dont know that for sure.

I think the OP in another thread said this was for a motel, but if its just for web connections for the place, cable still might be a better & cheaper solution.

Yeah, if it was just for something like that, Cable or DSL would probably cut it. The one thing to look into if using either of those would be if the TOS allows you to use it that way.

As long as he took good precautions against P2P programs.

You're going to have to take precautions against P2P whether it's cable or not...doesn't matter what type of physical connection you're using.

As far as a TOS goes...I'm pretty sure residential cable wont be installed at a place like that. The cable co will most likely force you into a business-class cable deal. It still should be a lot cheaper than a T1 though.

Maybe cable/dsl isn't avail in his location.
Anyway, in my location @ work where I can't get either (nor an SLA to match) I use a Netopia R5300 and it is just fine. I do have a firewall behind that tho 9with a snort sensor in between -0

@ home, I have cable and it BLOWS the T1 away :)
BUt at home, if it goes down (EXTREMEY RARE, more rare then T1) my wife, son and I are only ones pissed. @ work, I have a lot of people (owners included) who are pissed :)

Web ranger II w/CSU/DSU

I just installed a p2p using 2 of there guys.
really easy setup.

I was a little worried about the price being so low, but it has not caused a problem yet.
PM if you need help with the setup.
