The native resolution on the monitors. Is that the maximum resolution that it can display?

What are some of the things to look for when shoping for a monitor. I just bought a 8800gts and looking to take some advantages of the card 🙂

what are some of my options for $250-$300ish CAN?

I believe Windows can force a higher resolution. I know it's not possible to exceed the max resolution in Linux.
